Regardless of the Ledger device used this is an issue that many users have stressed long and hard about. But don’t worry any longer! As long as you have not shared your precious recovery passphrase, this can be fixed.

Often, even after a firmware update, the balance on some accounts may take longer to update or may not update automatically altogether. One way to solve this lagging update is to clear the cache on your Ledger Live. This tutorial will cover how to do this as well as some other fixes.

Solutions

Make sure you are using the latest version of Ledger Live.

Clear the cache

  • Go to the Settings in Ledger Live by clicking on the gear icon, in the upper right-hand side.
  • Go to the Help tab.
  • Click on the Clear Cache button, as shown in the image below.

This would resynchronize all accounts to the blockchain and the balances should be showing up on your accounts. But if this does not solve the issue try the second option below.

Use the Electrum third-party wallet, and change the derivation path to the type of account you have. Going over the steps on how to do this is beyond the scope of this tutorial but if you don’t know how to do this a simple googling should do it.

Conclusion

If you find that after an update the accounts are empty but you are sure you have not made any transfers out and that you always kept your passphrase secured then you can relax. There are fixes to this problem, and some of these have been outlined above. Use this guide to help you fix your account balance issue in no time.
